INSIDE THE NEW CHINAThe World's Hottest Economy
The remarkable rise of China is one of the mega-stories of our time. It's easy to state that now familiar fact; it's quite another thing to know it. My own experiental benchmark dates from May 1982 and a walk I took at dusk down Shanghai 's Nanjing Road – miles of tiny shops with mysterious wares tucked in dark-brown drawers, thousands of folks in Mao jackets and on bicycles, and not a single neon sign, car, skyscraper, or other Westerner in sight. Ten years later, literally nothing I had seen remained. Ten years after that, all was transformed again. Because China is modernising more rapidly than any large society in history, whether you've been there dozens of times-or never been at all-it's almost impossible to see it in perspective. Fundamental differences between Western and Chinese thinking, are the causes of many problems. History and Religion shapes the Chinese approach to dealing with Foreigners, as do State organisations and government bureaucracy. To obtain a meeting, and the right result from it, requires an in-depth understanding of Etiquette and Guanxi. Westerners and Chinese perceive the significance of a contract differently. An understanding of these issues, and Chinese negotiating tactics, will be achieved through attending the China Insight® workshop.
“Great program, changed the way I think when dealing with Chinese suppliers. I wish I had this training a year ago when we first began our deployment in to China . I believe this will make me a more effective change agent. Thanks!”
